Introducing Roland Kirk est le deuxième album de Roland Kirk 4 ans après Triple Threat qui était passé plus ou moins inaperçu. Cette « introduction » à Kirk ouvre le très prolifique catalogue discographique qu’enregistrera le multi-instrumentiste au cours des années 1960. On stage he was the ultimate eccentric, but the gimmick was rapidly exhausted in the studio after a collaboration with saxophonist and trumpeter Ira Sullivan, Introducing Roland Kirk (june 1960), containing The Call, and a collaboration with organist Jack McDuff, Kirk's Work (july 1961), with Funk Underneath. Four notes from the piano intros the horns in unison (3 sets of five notes). Kirk's tenor (front solo) is well up for it. Good solos by all, as well. The piano, along with Kirk's siren opens and closes "Jack The Ripper", a "catchy tune", but complicated for one horn, much less three.
